Age 7-8- Lesson length 30 minutes

Your singing lessons begin with the basics, including posture, inhalation and exhalation, vowel shapes to build tone and consonant projection. You will sing basic intervals, scales and sight singing examples. Songs will be suited to your age and skill level and are mostly in English. Genres include: Folk song, childrens' songs, music theatre and fun humorous songs.  You will build your confidence through performances in small studio recitals. When you are comfortable, you may choose to participate in larger public recitals, music festivals and vocal examinations. 

Age 9-16 - Lesson length 45 minutes

Your singing lessons include more detailed vocal technique with an emphasis on resonance, diction and projection. You will sing more complicated scale patterns and might take a Royal Conservatory of Music examination. You have the option to sing in several languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Latin or Spanish. Genres include Classical, Folk Song, Art Song and Music theatre. Performance opportunities include studio and public recitals, music festival competitions and auditions. 

17 and up  Lesson length- 45 -60 minutes

Your lessons will refine your vocal technique and expand your repertoire.  Styles may include Opera, French mélodie, Oratorio, Sacred and Secular Classical song, Art song and Music theatre.  Students will sing in at least three languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Latin and English at a Grade 8-10 Royal Conservatory level. Performance opportunities include private studio recitals, public recitals, festival competitions and auditions. 

Audition Preparation for Advanced Students

Students may prepare for auditions for school musicals, choral groups and summer voice programs in their regular lessons.  Preparation for University entrance to a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance requires at least 1.5 years of  lessons.
