STUDIO BACKGROUND
Karen Frandsen has maintained a busy and active voice teaching studio for 26 years. Her love of singing and music education have inspired many students to reach their goals and over the years, her students have won numerous awards at Local and Provincial music festivals, including The Canada West Performance Arts Festival for Classical voice and the Joanne Messer award for Saskatchewan's best classical vocalist. They have participated in Provincial and National Youth Choirs, gone on to build professional careers in the arts including music education and music therapy and completed Royal Conservatory Examinations. Karen holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in Vocal Performance and has studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts. She has held positions on the local and Provincial executive of the Sask. Registered Music Teachers Association(SRMTA) and the Provincial executive of the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association (SMFA)

Performance Opportunities
Students may sing in RECITALS either in the studio as a private event or a public event in a larger venue.
Masterclasses and workshops are offered periodically and are by invitation.

The Regina Music Festival gives students age 6 to Adult a chance to perform. Students receive valuable feedback from an adjudicator and may even qualify for scholarships. The Provincial Music Festival are for those students who are chosen to proceed to the next level of competition.

Students may also enroll in a summer voice intensive for more performance training and opportunity. Summer intensives are held each year during the summer months. Ask me for more information

Musical Education
Karen Frandsen Vocal Studio offers preparation for Royal Conservatory Examinations. Exaination dates are flexible throughout the September to June season. Examinations are offered at all levels from Beginner(Level Prep) to Advanced(ARCT diploma) Students who enroll in Level 5 and up will also enroll with a local theory teacher or theory class. Examinations may be used for a high school credit at the RCM Level 6-10 level.
